Foreword by Dr Melvin Wong
First, this is a well-researched book on the controversies over the complexities of gender dysphoria disorder (previously gender identity disorder) and the “Gender Affirmative Care” lies, perpetrated by most western nations beginning in Europe and now overwhelming cultures and politics in the United States and Australia. The critical reader is rewarded with the truths of gender identity development and how it can go wrong. In order to serve the best interest of patients and their families well; political popularity and expediency should never surpass the critical evidence of medical science, doing so, clinicians and policy makers become complicit in further harming these vulnerable patients and parents that they are trying to heal. Patients are hurt and damaged twice; beginning with innocent children, naïve adolescents and confused young adults whose legitimate anguish become quasi “willing” politicized-pawns for the profit of drug companies and medical establishments.
Junk (fake, fraudulent) science-based recommendations of the politicized policy makers are exposed in this book and debunked effectively and eloquently. This is a source book to help you become an effective apologist to win a public debate.
Second, the value of this book is not only in the scientifically well-research foundation, but also in offering the feedbacks and comments from patients who regretted their “affirmative care” and chose to detransition; as well as the reality of pain, suffering and anguish of their parents, family members and love-ones.
For teachers and clinicians: many are not aware of the treatability of Gender Dysphoria. This book contains priceless case examples of successful recovery from this disorder when diagnosed early and with the involvement of parents in a family-systemic therapeutic process where fathers can step up to make an effort to be emotionally reconnect/re-attach with their children. This highlights the core truth with “媽媽造男孩 爸爸造男人 Mother makes a boy Father makes a man”. These case histories can only be documented and distributed in non-western countries (Asia) where the freedom in offering treatment, and seeking treatment are not yet suppressed. This book may hold the position as the first resource on the global academic stage on the subject of Gender Dysphoria Care!
I believe the honest and impartial Gender Identity strugglers and their love ones, including teachers, clinicians will receive hope, freedom, direction and healing just by reading and examining this well written book!
Third, Hong Kong is emerging as a global location where the limitations, myths and lies of the appallingly (undemocratic) restrictive “Affirmative Gender” ideology is intellectually examined, exposed, challenged and debunked. This makes me grateful and inspired as a native of Hong Kong. What a great honor!
Congratulations! Our Hong Kong team has successfully overcome the fear of political correctness, persecution and academic intolerance and exclusion. This is freedom Indeed!
